About

Independent restaurants are what make a city worth living in.

Indie Eats is a free directory celebrating the independent restaurants of the Pacific Northwest — and helping diners find the spots worth showing up for.

The deck is stacked against independent restaurants.
Chains have billion-dollar marketing budgets. Delivery apps take 30% off the top. Review platforms charge owners for visibility. Generic SaaS tools treat them like a line item between dentists and contractors. Meanwhile rent goes up, supply costs climb, and the people doing the actual cooking are working 70-hour weeks just to keep the lights on.
Indie restaurants don’t lose to chains because the food is worse. They lose because the system isn’t built for them.
Indie Eats exists to push back — one meal, one neighborhood, one diner at a time.

What we believe

→ Independent restaurants are the most important small businesses in any city.
→ Eating is more than consumption — it’s connection, culture, and community care.
→ Where you spend your money is a vote for the kind of city you want to live in.
→ Indie restaurants deserve a directory built for them, not built to extract from them.
→ Chains can fill a stomach. Indies fill a neighborhood.

How Indie Eats works

For diners:
Free to use. Search by city, cuisine, or the values that matter to you — woman-owned, farm-to-table, scratch kitchen, and dozens more. Discover indie spots in your neighborhood worth showing up for.
For restaurants:
Free to be listed. No pay-to-play. No premium placement. No advertising tiers. Just visibility for the indie spots that deserve it.

Three free things you can do today

If independent restaurants matter to you:

  1. Search your city. Find an indie spot you’ve never tried. Go this weekend.
  2. Leave a Google review for a restaurant you love. It’s the single best free thing you can do to support a spot. (Most regulars never leave one — flip that.)
  3. Tell three friends about your favorite indie restaurant. Word of mouth still beats algorithms.
That’s the whole playbook. No donations needed. No subscription. Just choose indie. Tell people. Repeat.
